The first European Festival of Journalism and Media Freedom
We live in a world where information is in abundance, but accurate news is not always easy to find…
Voices emerges to bring citizens, journalists, and media professionals closer to each other.
We want to celebrate the pivotal roles journalism and the informed public play in societies while fostering critical thinking around disinformation.
For the upcoming third edition, Voices is about to return to Florence at Teatro del Maggio Musicale on 10–12 March 2026.
The second edition of the festival took place in Zagreb on 27 February - 1 March 2025. Over the course of three days, the festival explored crucial themes shaping our relationship with information and media nowadays through talks, interactive workshops, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
Before Croatia, Voices kicked off in Florence back in March 2024. Over 1300 participants attended sessions tackling artificial intelligence and journalism, disinformation, safety of journalists, the challenges within media economic models, media literacy, elections' integrity, EU legislation on media, digital parenting, and digital well-being, among others.
The festival is an itinerant initiative that moves across different European cities to engage with different communities, while emphasising media freedom and media literacy as essential elements for the functioning of our societies.
The award is designed to support the winners’ travel and accommodation expenses, enabling them to join us in Florence, where they will step into the spotlight at the Voices Awards ceremony.
The Voices Awards are back!
To celebrate the essential frontline work of journalists and media freedom advocates, Voices is granting 25 prizes of 1200 euros each across seven categories, recognising outstanding achievements in various journalistic formats (Radio, Video, Digital, Cartoons and Comics, and Photojournalism) as well as in Media Literacy and International Best Practices.
