Farah Maraqa
Farah Maraqa is a Palestinian- German journalist, specialising in human rights, women’s rights, media literacy, and conflict-sensitive journalism. With over a decade of experience, she spent six years at Deutsche Welle in Berlin, where she firsthand experienced the challenges of being a Palestinian journalist in a Western media institution—grappling with press freedom restrictions, institutional bias, and the portrayal of Palestine in global narratives.
This experience led Farah to take her insights to an academic level, pursuing a PhD at the University of Exeter, where she researches German media coverage of Palestine and the representation of Palestinians.
Committed to fostering critical media engagement, combating disinformation, and amplifying marginalized voices, Farah continues to work at the intersection of journalism, advocacy, and education.
