Milanka Kovačević is a journalist born in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia. She graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, specializing in Journalism and Communication. Since 2003, she has lived in the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Milanka worked as a journalist and editor at the local radio station Radio-Gacko. She has written for numerous media outlets in Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on topics she considers critical for society, including corruption, transition, social and environmental issues, social justice, and war crimes.

In 2018, Milanka, together with her colleagues, launched the web portal “Direkt”, where they critically examine current events. In the highly conservative environment of Herzegovina, they tackle crucial issues, scrutinize institutional practices, and expose corrupt actions of individuals in positions of power. She lives and works in Gacko.
