Born in Thessaloniki (Greece) in 1969, Yannis is the director of the Journalists’ Union of Macedonia and Thrace (ESIEMTH) and its Cultural Foundation. He has worked as a journalist in both newspapers and radio, and has also edited numerous books and collaborated with various magazines. From 2013 to 2022, he was a member of the European Federation of Journalists Steering Committee. From 2020 to 2023, he served as the Chairperson of the European Center for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF). Yannis has both coordinated and contributed to numerous projects, workshops, and seminars on journalists’ training, diversity reporting and ethics, media freedom, and media literacy.
