Igor Kanižaj

Igor Kanižaj (PhD) is a Full Professor at the Catholic University of Croatia, Department of Communication Science. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Advisory Board of EDMO – European Digital Media Observatory. He also serves as Vice President of the Association for Communication and Media Culture (DKMK).

Together with his associates, he coordinates Djeca medija, the largest national media education project in Croatia, which was awarded the Evens Foundation Special Jury Prize for Media Education in 2017. He is the co-author of the first public opinion research on media literacy in Croatia and a co-author of the Paris Declaration on Media and Information Literacy (UNESCO).

Igor has also worked as a journalist and as an expert on public awareness campaigns. From 2014 to 2016, he served as Vice Dean for Science and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb. Since 2010, he has been a member of the editorial board of the interdisciplinary scientific journal Medijske studije/Media Studies and became its Editor-in-Chief in 2019
