Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė

Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė is the director general of the Lithuanian public service media group Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT). Since 2021, she has been a member of the Executive Board of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). In 2025, she was elected Chair of the Baltic Centre for Media Excellence and was appointed President of the Steering Committee of PRIX EUROPA – an influential pan-European broadcasting festival.

Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė has more than 25 years of journalistic experience, working for Lithuanian national media outlets, as well as with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. For almost 17 years, she worked as editor-in-chief and columnist at the largest Lithuanian digital news platform Delfi.lt. In 2018, Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė was appointed director general of LRT through a public competition process and re-elected to this position for a five-year term in 2023.

Monika Garbačiauskaitė-Budrienė is a graduate of Vilnius University and has a master’s degree in international communication.
