La corsa de L’Ora
About the event
The documentary film “La corsa de L’Ora” (2017) by Antonio Bellia is dedicated to the historic Palermo newspaper L’Ora and chronicles the twenty-year editorship of Vittorio Nisticò (1954–1975). Celebrated as a prime example of journalism in the fight against the mafia, it features Pippo Delbono narrating Nisticò’s words. The film portrays the newspaper’s battles against mafia-political corruption and its role as a hub for intellectuals and artists (like Sciascia, Guttuso) advocating for social change. The documentary, made with the Sicilian Order of Journalists, won the 2018 Silver Ribbon (Nastro d’argento) for Best Documentary. The screening will be followed by a talk by the director Antonio Bellia.
