Living stories: Face to face with war reporters and fixers
About the event
Behind almost every report from a war or conflict zone is a network of people who make it possible: correspondents who travel in to cover the fighting, local journalists who never leave, freelancers working without a newsroom behind them, and fixers who open doors, translate, and face danger on the ground. They are closest to the story, yet their exposure to violence, surveillance, displacement, and lasting trauma often goes unseen and unprotected.
Following a short introduction on the main stage, attendees will sit down in groups with those who bring us news from the world’s most dangerous areas to ask their own questions and hear their stories close up. This is a chance for citizens to understand what they go through.
