Have I just been SLAPPed?

About the event

Getting sued for speaking out? It might have very little to do with the law and a lot more with silencing you. Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation, shortly called SLAPPs, are weaponised litigation aimed at journalists, activists, and anyone who dares to criticize the powerful. This workshop will start by unpacking what a SLAPP is, then dig into the red flags: suspicious timing, weak legal merit, inflated damages claims, and intimidation tactics. You will test your instincts in an interactive setting using real-world case scenarios. Finally, we’ll cover what to do if you suspect you’re being targeted, from anti-SLAPP laws to editorial support and documentation strategies.

Our speaker lineup is still growing. More names will be announced soon.
