How to end the precarious status of fixers?

About the event

Oksana Leuta and Mortaza Behboudi will explore their book, Fixers, in which they tell their own tales of war and occupation, oppression and exploitation, from France to Afghanistan, from Ukraine to Iran. Fixers are local guerilla journalists who provide foreign reporters with everything from hotels to vegan meals, drivers to interviewees, protagonists to entire storylines.

We would then look at recommendations on how media organisations should treat fixers and what rules could be put in place. And, of course, we would emphasise how fundamental fixers’ work is to good reporting on the ground.
