As part of the European team of journalists at Investigate Europe, Nico Schmidt collaborates with colleagues from several EU countries. Together, they have uncovered significant stories, including how people in Europe are being scammed out of billions of euros using AI, or the unequal access to life-saving medicines across Europe. These investigations would not have been possible without cross-border cooperation. Most recently, Nico Schmidt was a fellow of the Pulitzer Center’s AI Accountability Programme, where he also investigated the export of AI-powered surveillance technologies.
