A live voting game on how artificial intelligence is actually reshaping journalism.

Newsrooms everywhere are now experimenting with how to integrate artificial intelligence into their workflows, yet discussions too often remain stuck at the abstract level of whether AI is “good” or “bad” for journalism. This session deliberately moves beyond theory to focus on how AI is already reshaping the concrete realities of news production and news consumption.

You’ll be presented with a series of concrete AI applications in newsrooms, ranging from the mundane to the bizarrely dystopian. Your first challenge will be to work out which of these scenarios are real, happening in newsrooms today. Only then will the discussion move to a more practical assessment: if it is real, is it helpful, pointless, or potentially harmful? The session will also give participants the opportunity to interact directly with some of these tools and experiences, grounding the discussion in lived newsroom realities rather than speculation.

The session aims to demystify how AI is currently being used in journalism, what has delivered tangible value, what has failed, and where the real risks lie. Participants will leave with concrete reference points, and sharper questions to ask when they approach AI.

Un gioco dal vivo su come l’intelligenza artificiale stia realmente trasformando il giornalismo.

Le redazioni di tutto il mondo stanno sperimentando come integrare l’intelligenza artificiale nei propri flussi di lavoro, ma il dibattito resta troppo spesso bloccato a un livello astratto, chiedendosi se l’IA sia “buona” o “cattiva” per il giornalismo. Questa sessione va deliberatamente oltre la teoria per concentrarsi su come l’IA stia già cambiando le realtà concrete della produzione e del consumo delle notizie.

Verrà presentata una serie di applicazioni concrete dell’IA nelle redazioni, che spaziano dal banale al bizzarramente distopico. La prima sfida sarà capire quali di questi scenari siano reali e stiano già accadendo oggi nelle redazioni. Solo successivamente la discussione passerà a una valutazione più pratica: è reale, è utile, superfluo o potenzialmente dannoso? La sessione offrirà inoltre ai partecipanti l’opportunità di interagire direttamente con alcuni di questi strumenti ed esperienze, ancorando il dibattito alle realtà vissute nelle redazioni piuttosto che alla speculazione.

La sessione mira a demistificare come l’IA venga attualmente utilizzata nel giornalismo, cosa abbia prodotto un valore tangibile, cosa abbia fallito e dove si trovino i rischi reali. I partecipanti se ne andranno con punti di riferimento concreti e domande più incisive da porsi quando si avvicinano all’intelligenza artificiale.
