Voices, the European Festival of Journalism and Media Freedom, aims at bringing citizens, journalists, and media professionals together to explore crucial themes shaping our relationship with information and media.
For the upcoming third edition, Voices is about to return to Florence at Teatro del Maggio Musicale on 10–12 March 2026.
The second edition of the festival took place in Zagreb on 27 February - 1 March 2025. Over the course of three days, the festival explored crucial themes shaping our relationship with information and media nowadays through talks, interactive workshops, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
Before Croatia, Voices kicked off in Florence back in March 2024. Over 1300 participants attended sessions tackling artificial intelligence and journalism, disinformation, safety of journalists, the challenges within media economic models, media literacy, elections' integrity, EU legislation on media, digital parenting, and digital well-being, among others.
The festival is an itinerant initiative, moving across different European cities to engage different communities.
Voices is the result of a collaboration among several European partners, led by the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom at the European University Institute and including the European Federation of Journalists, the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), the AISBL EBU-UER, the European Association for Viewers Interests, Lie Detectors, Savoir Devenir, and Deutsche Welle.
Voices, il Festival Europeo del Giornalismo e della Libertà dei Media, crea uno spazio dove cittadini, giornalisti e professionisti del settore si incontrano per esplorare i temi cruciali che definiscono il nostro rapporto con l’informazione e i media.
La prossima edizione, la terza, segna il ritorno di Voices a Firenze: appuntamento al Teatro del Maggio Musicale dal 10 al 12 marzo 2026.
A febbraio 2025, la seconda edizione si è tenuta a Zagabria. Tre giorni intensi di talk, workshop interattivi, mostre e momenti di networking, tutti dedicati alle questioni più urgenti che influenzano il nostro modo di vivere l’informazione oggi.
Il viaggio di Voices era iniziato proprio in Italia, con la prima edizione fiorentina nel marzo 2024, che aveva riunito oltre 1300 partecipanti. Al centro del dibattito, temi come l’intelligenza artificiale applicata al giornalismo, la disinformazione, la sicurezza dei giornalisti, l’alfabetizzazione mediatica e il benessere digitale.
Proprio questa vocazione a spostarsi di città in città è nel DNA del festival, un’iniziativa itinerante nata per coinvolgere comunità diverse in tutta Europa.
Voices è il frutto di una collaborazione tra diversi partner europei, guidati dal Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom dell’European University Institute. Il consorzio include la European Federation of Journalists, l'European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), la AISBL EBU-UER, la European Association for Viewers Interests, Lie Detectors, Savoir Devenir e Deutsche Welle. Il progetto è co-finanziato dall’Unione Europea.
