Why the European Media Freedom Act matters to you

Media freedom is not just a theoretical idea. When it is undermined, it has real-world consequences for all of us. Across Europe, political interference, intimidation of journalists, and the growing influence of Big Tech platforms are putting independent journalism, media – and ultimately democracy – at risk. The European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) is designed to tackle these challenges head-on.

This session will break down what this new ‘Brussels regulation’ is all about and explain how it aims to safeguard the free flow of information and protect the independence of the media we all rely on to inform ourselves, get a sense of the world and our society, and participate in democratic decision-making.

La libertà dei media non è solo un concetto teorico. Quando viene compromessa, ha conseguenze concrete per tutti noi.
