Ides Debruyne is the co-founder and managing director of Journalismfund Europe (an independent non‐profit intermediary established in 1998 to stimulate independent investigative journalism in Europe) and co-founder of the Dutch-Flemish Association of Investigative Journalists. Ides is also the founder and chair of ‘SciMingo’ (which promotes science communication in the Flemish region) and a board member of the Belgian Flat Earth Society Orchestra.

Besides this background, for a decade (2007-2017) Ides was affiliated with Ghent University as a lecturer teaching basic social media skills and data journalism.
