Currently Director of Education & Heritage Unit at EKKOMED, elected UNESCO Global MIL Alliance Board Geographical Representative for Europe & North America (2026–2028), and Executive Director of CIFEJ.

Irene has collaborated with the European Commission, UNESCO, Council of Europe and OSCE as consultant, researcher and policy expert. Former Secretary General of the UNESCO MIL Alliance ISC (2019–2022) and coordinator of the UNESCO Mediterranean Group. Recipient of the 1st Global MIL Award (2023). She has authored 35+ publications and delivered 80+ speeches
