Yousef Habache
Yousef Habache is a Franco-Palestinian journalist and media advocate, and Head of the European Branch of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS). His work focuses on the protection of journalists in Palestine, freedom of expression, and the defense of human rights, particularly across the Arab and MENA region, including the Mashreq and Maghreb. Yousef has been actively engaged in international advocacy addressing the killing and systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists during the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Representing the PJS, he has worked with the European Parliament and other EU institutions to raise awareness, demand accountability, and call for an end to impunity for crimes committed against journalists and media workers. His advocacy places press freedom at the core of human rights and international law. Following the nomination of Palestinian journalists among the first announced candidates for the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought 2025, Yousef Habache was officially welcomed to represent the PJS at the Sakharov Prize ceremony at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. He is also founding a new independent Arab media platform from Europe Called “EUROPE et Nous” aimed at strengthening community Media and amplifying critical voices across Europe and the MENA region.
