Maja Sever is President of the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) and President of the Trade Union of Croatian Journalists (SNH).

A journalist with more than three decades of experience, she built her career at Croatian public broadcaster HRT as a war and political reporter, presenter and editor.

Maja Sever is a prominent advocate for media freedom, independent and strong public service media, journalists’ labour and social rights, gender equality and the protection of journalism as a public good. She was named Croatian Journalist of the Year in 2018.
