Tommaso Canetta has been serving as the Deputy Director of Pagella Politica and Facta News since 2020. He has been engaged in fact-checking since 2016 and has been a professional journalist since 2012. Primarily focusing on European and international projects associated with these newspapers, he oversees the coordination of fact-checking activities for the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) and the Italian Digital Media Observatory (IDMO). Additionally, Tommaso is a member of the Governance Body of the European Fact-Checking Standard Network (EFCSN) and the Taskforce of the Code of Practice on Disinformation of the European Union.

From the Russian invasion of Ukraine to climate change, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the recent Hamas/Israel conflict, Tommaso has extensively covered various topics of disinformation in recent years. He has authored articles and reports and has been a speaker at numerous international conferences addressing disinformation. Tommaso’s educational background includes a Master’s degree in Law, specialising in European and International Law, and a second-level university Master’s degree in Journalism.
