Alessandra Mancuso

Alessandra Mancuso

Alessandra Mancuso is an Italian journalist with more than four decades of experience in broadcast media. She spent the majority of her career at Rai, Italy’s public television network, working first as a foreign correspondent and later serving as editor-in-chief of a fortnightly current affairs programme for TG1, until her recent retirement. She is among the founders and former president of Giulia Giornaliste, an association that has been advocating for gender equality in the media for over 15 years. Mancuso is also a member of the National Council of FNSI and serves on the union’s Equal Opportunities Commission. At European level, she represented the European Federation of Journalists in the BREG expert group on public service media and contributed to the “Rewriting the Story” project, later delivering related training activities in Italy.

Her work focuses on freedom of information, responsible and accurate language in media coverage—particularly in reporting on violence against women—the fair representation of women across all sectors, and addressing harassment and threats against female journalists.
